The legal limit for the minimum depth of the tread on a tyre is 1.6 millimetres across the central ¾ of the tread around the circumference of the tyre.

For safety reasons it is advised that tyres are replaced before the legal limit is reached. If you are unsure of the tread depth of your tyres, pop in and we will check them free of charge.

We hold a wide range of tyre sizes, brands, 4x4 tyres and commercial tyres. If we do not have the tyre you want in stock then we can normally get it in for the next day.

This includes ensuring tyres have adequate tread depth, tyre pressures are set correctly and the tyres are in a safe condition- free from any cuts, bulges or other hazards which could pose a potential safety threat.

You do not need to book an appointment if you have a puncture or we have your tyre size in stock as we can do it whilst you wait.

Our tyre prices include balancing, fitting, VAT and disposal of the old tyre. There are NO hidden charges.

Checking Size

Every single vehicle has different sized tyres for example a Clio has 3 or 4 different sizes so it is important that you know the size of the tyre and not the make of the vehicle! Every tyre has a number printed on it, in the same format as the image.

For tyre size 195/55R16

195 is the tyre width in MM
55 is the height of the tyre from rim to road and is 55% of the tyre width
R just means its construction is a Radial tyre
16 is the rim diameter in inches
